The Mercedes-Benz GLS is definitely one of the most luxurious, spacious and capacious Mercedes-Benz SUV. The GLS is the S-Class of the Mercedes-Benz’s SUV range, the epitome of everything the German premium brand can offer in terms of luxury, tech and desirability in it’s biggest format.
This large three-row SUV has room for the whole family and pampers everyone in its cabin. The GLS comes with two options: a 362-hp in-line six or a 483-hp twin-turbo V8, both which benefit from a hybrid assistance system.
Drive and Engine Configuration
The GLS450 features a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six engine which produces 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft torque. In addition to that, it gets to enjoy an EQ Boost from an integrated generator that can add another 21 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque on top of that. This can get you from 0-60 in just 5.3 seconds. The transmission features a 9-speed automatic and 4Matic all-wheel drive comes as standard. For the engine size, the fuel efficiency is incredible. If that isn’t fast for you, there’s still the GLS580, which features a smooth V8 engine. It is much more powerful, making an impressive 483 horsepower and 513lb-ft of torque from it’s twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The 9-speed automatic and 4Matic all-wheel drive is also seen in this model. In terms of fuel efficiency, you get an estimated 7km/l. The best you can get is about 9km/l. The latter serves as a reconfigurable gauge display for the driver.
The new MBUX software features an iPhone-like virtual assistant , Apple Carplay and Android Auto Capability. In-dash navigation (can be configured to work on Kenyan roads) and on-board Wi-Fi hotpsot are all standard. For your audio needs, you get to enjoy the 13-speaker Burmester Sorround Stereo.
