A class of it’s own. The new premium small van combines space, comfort and safety features for families and safety enthusiasts.
Overview
As a premium small van, the T-Class provides generous space that can be used flexibly, plus a high level of comfort and functionality. With five seats and a foldable rear bench seat, a large tailgate and a low loading sill, you can stow sports equipment, bicycles, prams or a dog crate easily. This makes the T-Class not only your reliable companion for everyday use: with this miracle of space, you are also always prepared for a trip to the seaside or to the mountains.
Drive:
The Mercedes-Benz T-Class originates from a van, yet even by passenger car standards, the ride is quite firm, especially during city running. The seven-speed gearbox has plenty of tight ratios to flick between to make the engine feel comfortably in control with plenty of torque on tap should you need a burst of acceleration. The T-Class isn’t fast, though, but it doesn’t need to be, in fact it’s better to keep it below motorway speed. That’s because its cavernous interior becomes a little noisy at a cruise. The consumption is also friendly, giving out an average of 17km/l.
There’s either a T160d giving you 95hp or a T180d with 116hp. There’s either a six-speed manual gearbox as standard or a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox which is ideal for both urban or motorway environments.
Interior & Safety:
The interior features a spacious cabin with both five or seven seat (long wheel base) options. It features the MBUX infotainment system which includes a seven-inch touchscreen with the voice command system.
The interior is really impressive than one would expect aside from some plastic here and there, which would be a small price to pay for the vehicles practicality. There’s a central storage bin under the front arm rest, a couple of cup-holders, an overhead shelf at the front, door pockets and a glovebox. The T-Class has a reassuring five-star (out of the possible five) Euro NCAP rating. It was credited to its active safety features and a new center airbag that helps protect occupants in a side-impact crash.
The Style and Progressive lines offer a dynamic, urban style or a stylish, elegant design in the vehicle interior. Trim elements on the instrument panel and in the door panelling, the high-quality seat covers and the ambient lighting underline the premium character. Chrome applications and the leather steering wheel and door sill panels with Mercedes-Benz lettering round off the sophisticated interior.
